Project Development Manager - Wind / PV /BESS

Munich or Remote (Germany)

We are looking for a proactive Project Development Manager to lead the development of renewable energy projects—such as solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)—across Germany. You will manage projects from site identification and acquisition through to permitting, grid connection, and financial close, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and secure suitable sites for renewable energy projects.

  • Manage the full project development cycle, from feasibility studies to ready-to-build status.

  • Lead permitting processes, ensuring compliance with German planning and environmental regulations (e.g., BImSchG, BauGB).

  • Negotiate and secure land lease agreements with landowners.

  • Coordinate environmental, technical, and grid connection studies.

  • Liaise with network operators, municipalities, permitting authorities, and other stakeholders.

  • Prepare project documentation for internal investment decisions.

  • Collaborate with engineering, legal, and finance teams to ensure project viability.

  • Monitor regulatory changes in the German renewable energy market and adapt project strategies accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy project development in Germany.

  • Strong knowledge of German permitting processes, environmental regulations, and land acquisition practices.

  • Track record of delivering projects from early-stage development to ready-to-build.

  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

  • Fluent in German (native/fluent) and good English proficiency.

  • Willingness to travel regularly within Germany.
